Life Wright Now | May 2023

May has been filled to the brim with activity and fun. My mom came to visit, planning her trip around the annual West Seattle Garage Sale. We had a blast hitting close to 40 (of the 400!) yard sales and each came home with some wonderful loot. For Mother's Day we played in the creek at Schmitz Preserve and ended the night with Thai takeout, surprise pie from A La Mode, and a pit stop at the beach.

I gifted my mom an evening with Seattle Arts & Lectures to hear Tom Hanks speak about his newly-released novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece. What a treat to hear him tell story after story in his iconic Tom Hanks voice! He was funny, engaging, meandering, expressive and sincere as he shared the inspiration and writing process behind fictionalizing the unique individuals he's met throughout his career. I also learned about HANX coffee, his non-profit distributing 100% of profits to support veterans and their families. Gotta love Tom Hanks :)

Last weekend Mr. Fleece and I ran the 5K on Alki to support West Seattle High School. So nice to get back into running...I like having a goal/event to work toward. Hope to keep up running once or twice a week, even if it's just a 15 minute jog to move my body and clear my head.

Other Highlights:
- My children in sunglasses
- Neighborhood lilacs
- Taking a pottery class...a bucket list item of mine. I was delightfully reminded of what it's like to try something new and not be good at it :)

Up Next: Celebrating Mr. Fleece's birthday over Memorial Day weekend in North Bend. We're trying another house swap with friends!

Watching | Severance
We're joining the craze for this series. Mr. Fleece and I are just a few episodes in but already hooked by the acting, cinematography, and sometimes-too-suspenseful plot. Questions and mysteries abound!

Eating | Beveridge Place Pub
Earlier this month a friend and I attended West Seattle's Silent Book Club, basically a happy hour for introverts that includes an hour of silent reading amongst strangers. It was the perfect way to experience this pub, which felt cozy, open, and community-oriented. I almost never go to breweries or pubs, so the evening was out of the ordinary in so many ways. We loved it!

Reading | A Lady's Guide to Fortune-Hunting by Sophie Irwin
I've been doing more and more reading via audiobooks. This one is a pure delight and the regency language is superb, made all the more lovely by the reader's British accent. For fans of Pride & Prejudice or Bridgerton.

Listening | Honeybee by The Head and the Heart
Knowing very few bands, albums, song titles and regularly mixing up lyrics, you don't want me on your trivia team when it comes to music. I just know if I like a song and this is one I like :)
