Life Wright Now | February 2026

After a rocky start to the year, this month's abundant sunshine has been a welcome balm, drawing us back to one of our family's favorite pastimes — exploring and enjoying the beach! We've spotted double-crested cormorants (NLW's favorite), seals, a river otter, and even a sea lion. Mr. Fleece joined a WhatsApp group that sends whale alerts, which means at any given moment we may drop everything and sprint toward the shoreline with hopefulness. So far? Zero whales.

In between the usual rhythms of life — chaperoning field trips, overseeing wellness visits, and restocking the fridge yet again — I hit a personal milestone: flying solo with all three children to visit my parents in Texas. They are seasoned travelers and did great!

Highlights:
- animals. always animals :)
- seeing Mirma's backyard birds
- walking the waterway and seeing what CCW calls the "100 koi fish"
- catching a frog and a green anole
- visiting Houston's Downtown Aquarium
- playing in the creek at the Montgomery County Nature Preserve
- visiting the new library
- exploring the ditch (arguably a top-tier attraction)
- watching The Olympics
- hearing my children describe mid-seventies temps as "scorching hot"
- making pumpkin pie with Poppa...a staple, no matter the season!
