Sheepherding at its best

Last Friday I hitched a ferry over to Vashon Island with a group of classy ladies.

We attended the Vashon Sheepdog Classic, a wonderful sheepherding event : ) 

 There were so many border collies all in one spot....herding sheep!

There were also women demonstrating some wool based crafts. I learned all about picking, spinning, combing & looming. 

These little niche cultures are so astounding & interesting.

My mother has a knack for finding thrifty gems. Although not quite hereditary, I believe this trait has been passed on to me.

Babies

Our good friends, J & D are expecting : ) They announced the gender of their little baby this weekend.

YES! This is what I was hoping for them. 

They celebrated with good food, 

 good friends, 

 & PINK smoothies : )

Read: I just finished "A Girl named Zippy" by Haven Kimmel. It is a humorous, witty, off-beat memoir that would be perfect to read out loud on a road trip with friends. 

Next up is "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg. Hoping to learn a thing or two for my career : )

Second occupation: Tour Guide

This past weekend my roommate from college came to stay. I made sure her first visit to Seattle was jam packed with fun, local, unique sights &tastes...I even made an itinerary : ) 

Here are some of the things we did:

 Another favorite spot: Volunteer Park (also the cafe...it's so cozy!)

 Explore Capital Hill/Montlake...we even got lucky & stumbled upon 6 Open Houses

Topped the weekend off with ice cream from BlueBird

I was able to show KET some of my favorite spots, but also experience new things. Yay for crossing items off my bucket list with one of my closest friends.
