It is a true privilege to be a guest on my daughter’s blog. Does this mean that sometimes she thinks I’m trendy? The only time I can remember being even slightly trendy was in 2nd grade when a family friend gave me a pair of go-go boots. Now go-go boots back in 1966 were definitely trendy, but I digress. . .
I really enjoy jewelry. I like wearing it and I like looking at it. Each piece of jewelry is like a little piece of art. My tastes do not run to fine jewelry, nor does my pocketbook. . . I tend to like plastics, lucites, resins, wood, copper, brass—in other words COSTUME jewelry and I especially like bangle bracelets—they are easy on, easy off and come in an endless variety of colors and designs.
Because I enjoy jewelry as art I like to have pieces out where I can see them. They make me smile. I stash my bangles in big bowls or old planters.
I also have a stand on my vanity that was made to hold dainty little fingertip towels but I use it as a rotating display piece for my bangles. It’s Autumn now so I displayed a delicious selection of Fall colored bangles.
An old garden rake makes a handy display rack for fun necklaces and really, doesn’t everyone have an old rake hanging around their bathroom?
For organizing my dozens of earrings that aren’t on display I use old egg cartons or ice cube trays. You can get fancy shmancy trays for jewelry at The Container Store, but for a buck or less you can keep your earrings separated and handy to wear.
In my closet I use a special hanger for my assortment of necklaces. You can see I have quite the gamut from pearls to wooden jungle animals—costume jewelry can be so quirky and fun!
This thing is heavy! |
I wondered just how heavy, so I decided to weigh it. It comes in at just over 10 pounds, so if you go this route make sure you have a sturdy closet rod. To be covered in an avalanche of falling clothes and jewelry would not be pretty.
Enjoy your baubles, bangles and beads!

The Americans may ask that there are many problems on
ReplyDeleteEarth that have not yet been solved. Why should we spend our money on space activities and space exploration every penny we spend on the space project ,This is our experience from 60 years of space exploration. And if we can reorganize the space project to make it better to adapt to the 21st century, it will also be the next 100 years we have experienced the situation.
