What a dollar can buy.

I went to the West Seattle Garage Sale with a group of friends this weekend. I walked away with a sunburn & some really sweet deals: Everything I found was only a dollar (the sunburn was free).
including this fun skirt.
this colorful cutting board.
this practical banana holder.
this storage saver hanging fruit basket
this 7 months too early Christmas tree stand.
this cutesy address book.
this summery wallet.
this playful cribbage board.
this patio table accent toadstool.
I will always be a fan of the yard, tag, rummage, & old fashioned garage sales.

P.S. If anyone wants to learn to play cribbage, I am down for teaching ya : )

An engaging gift

If you have a friend that recently got engaged, do that girl a favor and buy/make her
a "Thankfulness journal."
Here are two that I made for friends.
On the inside cover write something like this:
My dear friend,
In this journal you can write down everything that you are thankful for about _{fiance's name}_, everything you admire & respect about your soon to be husband. When you are frustrated or upset, glance through this as a reminder of all the reasons why you chose _{fiance's name}_.

It's a great way to cultivate a heart of thankfulness & gratitude rather than one of  criticism/discontentment/brattiness.

I use mine often. I have much to be thankful for.

I went to a wedding.

My friend, MKM got married on April 27th.
I witnessed it.
Their ceremony took place in a beautiful garden/gazebo area...
right at sunset. (genius!)
Her reception was equally beautiful.
Complete with:
-some stinkin' awesome chicken tortellini, dancing, & pie!
 pretty centerpieces:
 POPCORN as party favors:
& guests as wonderful as these dearhearts:
A wedding is a big deal. You're vowing to become one & display the love that Christ has for the church.

It's the best.

My trip to ABQ

Albuquerque, New Mexico. Land of Enchantment. I'd say it's pretty enchanting, especially when your best friend, ALL (soon to be ALC!!) lives there.
I want to make this into a postcard : )
Our activities included: consuming delicious food, thrift store shopping, seeing ALL's work place, planning a few nuptial items, visiting Old Town & coffee shopping it up!
Our thrift store purchase:
Old Reader's Digests for FIVE CENTS each. These may appear as wedding centerpieces : )
A Julia Child cutting board.
We also took the tram up the Sandia Mountains. The mountains have a glistening pink shimmer at sunset, hence the name "Sandia" which means watermelon in Spanish.
We somehow managed to squeeze in a road trip out to Amarillo, Texas over the weekend as well.
We made a couple pit stops on the original Route 66. Including this place that
grills their cinnamon rolls.WHAT??

We also pulled over to see the public art installation known as Cadillac Ranch.
You can spray paint buried Cadillacs....need I say more?

Hoping my next visit will include
a hot air balloon ride : )
