Life Wright Now | October

Watching
You've probably seen Will Ferrell's iconic Spartan Cheerleader skit -
"Well you want a victory, well that makes you a wisher, cause one thing is for sure you ain't no Bobby Fischer. Bobby Fischer where is he? I don't know! I don't know! Bobby Fischer where is he? I don't know! I don't know!"

So what's the story behind the real Bobby Fischer? Mr. Fleece & I recently watched "Bobby Fischer Against the World" to learn about the infamous chess genius. Fischer's fascination with & aptitude for chess are pretty astounding. There's one scene where he goes down a line of chess boards, playing 40 different people or so at a time! Fischer was an "interesting" man to say the least, paranoid & unpredictable. The historical account of the 1972 Fischer - Spassky match alone makes this film worth it. Might make you think twice about picking up a chess board though!
Eating
The latest & greatest lunch spot at my office is Country Dough, a little nook in Pike Place Market. The delicious & fresh flatbread sandwiches have helped this Chinese restaurant grow in popularity. If you're like me & have are spice intolerant, I recommend the chicken stewed meat (No. 3).
Reading
It's rare that I read a book more than once, but I'll make exceptions every now & then. I read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald at some point for an English class, but ever since the movie with Leonardo came out, I've been wanting to reread the story. It is a classic after all!
Listening
My friend recommended Family and Friends, a band made up of family & friends : )
I particularly like "Vestiges" on the XOXO album.

Two weeks 'til Halloween

I'm a fan of Halloween. My birthday is the day before, so I think the two have always gone hand in hand for celebration. While I enjoy the candy & decor, my favorite part is definitely the costumes. Whether it's a cute child, a well executed DIY, or a clever group play on words, I appreciate the creativity that the day brings. Here are some of my recent finds, hope it helps get your creative juices flowing, or at least your face smiling!
Starbucks frappucino baby
Little lion

Salt & pepper friends

Slow movin' turtle
Photo booth print out
Needle & thread
Brawny man
Slice of cake
Cuckoo clock
Google map direction points
Guess Who players!
Oregon Trail members
Shark Week
Social media reps
Classic game of rock paper scissors
Pretty amazing that everyone agrees to welcome strangers to their doorstep to hand out chocolate & sugar, don't ya think?

Brainstorming,

Move it or lose it

Mr. Fleece & I have a secret love for helping our friends move. Some might even call it a past time. Very few of our friends are living in the same apartment/house where they were living when we first met them. Some friends have even moved multiple times since we've known them. For one reason or another, be it rent increases, getting married & moving in together, having a child & wanting more space, or swapping roommates, we've helped many many friends move. & we love it.
Helping the B family move to an apartment just five blocks south of us! Pro tip: use different colors of duct tape to wrap boxes, indicating what room of the house they should be moved in to. Genius!
It's a great way to serve our friends.
It's a free weekend activity.
It's super fun to see their new space.
It's a way to force me to workout without really realizing it.
It's truly the perfect blend of task & relationship building. This is key. I really enjoy having an activity to complete when hanging out with friends. Other examples include going for walks, cooking & jigsaw puzzling : )
So when I offer to help you move, it's really just me wanting to hang out with you!

Maybe it will be a different story when it's actually us moving. But then again, maybe not. Instead of "moving day" I'll just call it a "box party."

Washington | Copalis Beach

When October hits, Mr. Fleece is a study machine. He spends every Saturday & every evening studying for his next actuarial exam. To be less of a distraction to him/to actually have a distraction for me, I've been planning girl trip getaways. In February it was the Oregon Coast, this time, the Washington Coast : )
There's not much to do in Copalis Beach, other than of course, check out the beach. Our first walk on the beach was crazy crazy windy. You could tilt forward & feel the wind keep you upright...
Fortunately, despite the windstorm & rainy day, we were able to catch some blue skies & a beautiful sunset.
With the storm brewing outside, it was a perfect Saturday for curling up, reading, watching (three) movies!, & eating good food. We had a delicious spread:
Breakfast - pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon sugar apple topping
Lunch - grilled cheese & tomato soup
Dinner - white bean soup and cornbread
a.k.a. perfect fall dining.

Thankful for a weekend with...

A Woodland Wedding

My friend & coworker PT just married her love, CM, at Robin Hood Village Resort. Like the venue name suggests, the location was wooded & perfect for...
