Five was such a fun animal-filled year for NLW! Going to zoos and aquariums, seeing two reptile guys, discovering marine iguanas, playing zoo in the basement, completing animal research projects at "summer school" and soaking up every animal fact from visual encyclopedias. You’re a little zoologist at heart, and we watched your interest jump from the rainforest to reptiles, and then to marine animals.
1. Learning
This year broadened your world with all the friends and teachers you met through preschool and the start of Kindergarten. We have loved watching your amazing ability to spell, write, and read! Thanks to Pre-K, you released salmon in the wild and discovered the show Octonauts :)
2. Drawing
The walls in your room became a laboratory and you developed a distinct style for drawing and labeling animals. You prefer copying realistic pictures of animals, so we’ve been checking out the Animal Encyclopedias from the library regularly
3. Reading
Your enjoyment of reading and looking through books has never ceased. This year though, you started to read them ON YOUR OWN!
4. Beachcombing
You love digging in the sand, and walking the beach at low tide to find clam and crab shells.
5. Exploring
You are happy and easy-going and always up for an adventure! I love sharing my love for the outdoors with you on our many family excursions.
It's been fun to celebrate your evolving smile with you as you lose teeth. You lost your top two just days apart.
