Honeymoon Part 3: Free Parking

Embarrassing Fact: Until very recently...ahem...2 minutes ago, I always thought this corner square looked like a red electrical plug. Maybe I was combining it with the electric company square? Anyway, I now see the image of a cute cartoon car.
Unfortunate Fact: Free Parking is extremely rare in Seattle.
Redeeming Fact: There are 400+ free parks in Seattle; Mr. Fleece & I went to several of them on our honeymoon!

1. Seattle Center
We can walk from our house to this tourist hub in about 15 minutes. It is home to the Pacific Science Center, Experience Music Project, & lots of screaming children playing in the large fountain.
2. Kerry Park
For a different view of the needle, everyone comes to this spot, made even more famous due to Grey's Anatomy.
3. Parsons Garden
Just a few streets down, there is a secret garden nook with the prettiest hydrangeas.
 4. Woodland Park Rose Garden
For more flowers, we visited a park near the Zoo. So. Many. Roses. I half expected to see a deck of cards with paint brushes : )

5. Discovery Park
We visited Discovery Park, which has a completely different feel! You basically hike through a rainforest & reach this awesome beach:
 6. Gas Works Park
In a lot of ways this unique park reminds me of Town Lake (shout out to all the Longhorns reading!) because of the waterfront view and amount of human activity.
In one evening we saw slackliners, skaters, lawn-game players, readers, kite-flyers, & a marching band (seriously!)....not to mention this beautiful view:
Cheers to free parking,

Honeymoon part 2: A Moocher's Paradise

Our first full day in Seattle we visited Pike Place Market. It's top notch and therefore gets its own blog post.
You walk through these alleyways & workers everywhere are providing free samples: Pears. Nectarines. Cherries. Chocolate Pasta. Jam. Cheeses. Olive Oils...seriously, it's a moocher's paradise.
Their methods work...we bought a peach.
There is a ton of fresh seafood! All of it looks dead and delicious.
Yummy!
Down below, there are quirky shops.
Bazinga!
Even the restrooms are picture-worthy:
But man, the best part has to be the flowers. The arrangements are GORGEOUS!!!!!
Bouquets for $5.00!!! FIVE. DOLLARS.
Later we made our way to the First Original Starbucks (established in 1971) and witnessed the guy in front of us propose to his girlfriend! This place was hoppin' with marital bliss.
We actually didn't buy any coffee.
The Market is one of my favorite iconic Seattle spots!
Blue Skies!
Awaiting a surprise bouquet of fresh flowers,

Honeymoon part 1: TOURists

Honeymoon: the time period between kissing at the altar & legally changing your last name.
On top of "Kite Hill."
Mr. Fleece & I loved honeymooning in our new city. We learned about the history, culture, & geography of Seattle & street names started making their way into my long term memory. We signed up for two separate tours where we were flooded with facts.

#1 The Duck Tour

We drove through town & saw the Pink Elephant & The Hammering Man.
-Apparently Elvis Presley took his car here multiple times a day.
-He hammers 4 times every minute every day...except for Labor Day : )

We learned tons of facts about downtown Seattle & then went for a dip in Lake Union.

Driving on the Aurora Bridge looking over Lake Union.

The Sleepless in Seattle House!! Tom Hanks was thereeeee.

#2 Underground Tour in Pioneer Square

So Seattle had a serious sewage saga back in the day. We learned about the foolish fellows who forgot about high tide & got blasted off their toilet seats due to their miscalculations.

Down below, looking up to the present day sidewalk.
This tour was humorous, interesting, & unlike anything I'd seen before.
I would never have known this existed...
Grateful for this unique city,

A different kind of chef

Some people love cooking...they try new recipes, they mix flavors, they craft soups!

I do a little cooking myself, except my ingredients are often clothes. I find different blends, new concoctions, and perfect "meals" (outfits & accessories). Here's a little "taste" of what I mean.

Cookbook Entry #1: Versatility

Exhibit A: basic dress
Salvation Army $3.00 (originally from Express).

You can....

1. let it remain a dress
Some sweater action.
OR you can wear it...

2. as a different dress
Worn under a skirt.
3. as a skirt

Paired with a bright cardigan.
4. as a top
Fold the dress in on itself to form a blouse.
5. as a tunic

Over jeans & add a belt.
6. as a romper
Dress shirt underneath.

7. as a scarf?
: )
Here's to Cordon blue cheesecake, chowder, & clothes!

Literally...so is my closet.

Remember the "guest book" you saw in this post? That isn't the only item from our wedding day. Here are some of our other recycled decorations.

Our Cake Toppers: The birds and "IN LOVE" sign sit on my dresser. A constant reminder of that deliciously scrumptious dessert.
Favors:Scrabble Magnets
People forgot to take these.
They now hold our grocery store coupons...
Wedding Centerpiece: Flowers and Mason Jar
Trendy or not, I will forever be fond of mason jars.
Scrabble Sign: demoted to a lowly household knick knack.
Wedding Banners: "LOVE" and "MR & MRS"
The "JUST MARRIED" sign was on our getaway vehicle.

Told you my closet was trendy.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. I made Jack Johnson proud.
